I am a tech geek at heart, but also a teacher at heart. My background is that of an elementary teacher (M.Ed.), music teacher (B.Mus.Ed.), and college professor (PhD. – instructional technologies). Life is busy… I have taught grades K-8, with most of my time spend in the grades 2-4. I have also taught in higher education for 12 years now in departments of education. My 2 boys, ages 10 and 14, keep me grounded and constantly laughing. They are so fun and full of life.
My professional interests lie in the area of constructivist/constructionist learning environments facilitated by relevant and meaningful tools that help empower learners. My dissertation research examined how a model of ubiquitous computing in an elementary classroom effected the operationalizing of a teacher’s constructivist teaching philosophy.
I love the outdoors, hiking, camping, cycling, skiing,… and am really enjoying a newfound passion for digital photography.
